On October 17th, 2019 Help Peru hosted its 6th annual fundraiser event, with 260 guests at the Metropolitan Club of New York. We were joined by members of two organizations we support, Eliana Elias and Emira Montes from Minga Peru, and Milagros Florez from Sinfonia por el Peru, who talked to us about the impact of their work. Minga educates and empowers communities in the Peruvian Amazon collaboratively building social justice with gender equity, environmental stewardship and cultural identity. Sinfonia por el Peru provides Peruvian children and youth with musical education to develop higher self-esteem and greater tenacity to achieve goals.
Other guests were the Peruvian tenor Santiago Pizarro who sang for the audience, or the Surf World Champion Sofia Mulanovich who donated her own surfboard and autographed it for the live auction. Most attendees then joined us for some dancing at the afterparty.
Your donations during our annual gala rose to $300,000 and will support 12 non-profits in Peru, in the areas of education, healthcare and nutrition, among others. Thank you!
